How many exosome sessions do you need for hair loss?

Exosomes for hair loss: a starter series of 4 sessions, then maintenance. The rhythm to follow, and why regularity matters.

South-Asian woman with a low bun, how many exosome sessions for hair loss

You need a starter series of 4 sessions spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart, then one maintenance session every 6 to 12 months. The treatment is described in detail on the DC-Exo page.

You want to know what you're committing to before you start, in time and in money. That's normal. The exosomes used at the clinic are synthetic. It's a recent approach, with encouraging but limited data.

Our protocol, 4 + 1

The starter phase, 4 sessions

  • The rhythm: every 3 to 4 weeks
  • Total duration: 3 to 4 months
  • The goal: improve the look of hair and thicken it

The maintenance phase, 1 session

  • The rhythm: every 6 to 12 months
  • The goal: keep what was gained

Why four sessions and not just one

The effect builds

Exosomes work by accumulation. A single session sends a signal to the follicle, and it has to be repeated to have an effect.

  • The concentration rises in the scalp with each session.
  • The follicle needs repeated signals to restart durably.
  • Each session's effect adds to the ones before.

A trial session wouldn't tell you much, which is why we won't sell you one as a test.

Our two options, depending on your profile

Exosomes alone, with DC-Exo. It's open to everyone, with no blood draw, and it's the only option if PRP is contraindicated for you.

PRP with exosomes, with DC Prime for men and DC Bloom for women. When the quality of your blood allows it, we combine the two.

Either way, it's a series of sessions.

What happens at each stage

The markers below describe a typical progression. Nobody can guarantee you a result, and the response varies from person to person.

After the first session, 3 to 4 weeks

  • The scalp is in better shape.
  • Shedding starts to drop.

Will you already see regrowth? No. Hair doesn't grow in three weeks, whatever the product.

After the second, 6 to 8 weeks

  • Hair looks denser (results vary).
  • Daily shedding slows clearly.
  • Existing hair is thicker and more resilient.
  • Shine and texture change.

After the third, 9 to 12 weeks

  • Density keeps building in the treated areas.
  • The change starts to show to the eye, not just to the touch.

After the fourth, 12 to 16 weeks

  • The result is at its best.
  • The gain consolidates.
  • The hair cycle has rebalanced.
  • We plan maintenance.

Why that number and that spacing

Below four sessions, the signal doesn't have time to settle, and you pay for half a result. Beyond that, we'd be billing you for sessions that no longer add much.

Spacing matters as much as the number. Three to four weeks gives the follicle time to respond. If sessions are too close together, they stack up with no added effect, and if they're too far apart, you lose the accumulation and start over.

Exosomes or PRP, what changes in the protocol

PRP alone generally takes 3 to 4 starter sessions, then annual maintenance. It needs a blood draw, and its quality depends on your health.

Exosomes alone take 4 sessions, then maintenance once or twice a year. There's no draw, and the concentration is the same every time.

Both together, in DC Prime and DC Bloom, combine the outside signal with your own growth factors.

The number of sessions varies little from one option to another. The choice depends mostly on your health, your contraindications and how you feel about needles.

Possible adjustments

Severe shedding or advanced loss

  • A fifth session, depending on progress
  • Maintenance every six months in the first year
  • Combining with microneedling to improve penetration

Telogen effluvium, temporary shedding

  • Three sessions may be enough
  • The same spacing, 3 to 4 weeks
  • Annual maintenance

In women, we first check iron, thyroid and hormones. Temporary shedding often has a correctable cause, and it has to be corrected before treating.

Preventively, in younger people

  • Two or three sessions is often enough
  • Maintenance every 12 to 18 months
  • It's the point where effort and result line up best

A half-hour session

How it goes

  1. Preparation, 5 minutes. We clean and disinfect the scalp.
  2. Placement, about fifteen minutes. We do microneedling followed by the exosome application, or micro-injections, depending on the protocol.
  3. Finishing, 5 minutes. A gentle massage, then the aftercare instructions.

Usually back to normal activities the same day

  • You leave and go back to your day right away.
  • Light redness is possible, and it fades in 2 to 4 hours.
  • You can wash your hair the next day.

Questions we get asked

Can sessions be spaced further apart? We don't advise it. A rhythm of three to four weeks sustains stimulation without wasting it.

What if I miss a session? A one- or two-week shift changes nothing. Beyond that, we talk it through with you, because it's sometimes better to restart the protocol than to finish it halfway.

Are results immediate? No. Improvement is gradual, and the first signs affect shedding before regrowth. Be wary of anyone promising a visible change in one session.

Is maintenance mandatory? We strongly recommend it. Without maintenance, benefits fade over twelve to eighteen months and you return to your starting point.

Schedule and budget

What a short protocol gives you

  • Four sessions, with an end known in advance
  • Spaced maintenance, so spending drops afterwards
  • A result that holds between two maintenance visits
  • A protocol set before you pay

A typical year

  • Month 1: sessions 1 and 2
  • Months 2 and 3: sessions 3 and 4
  • Between month 8 and 12: the first maintenance session

DC-Exo is $1,898, taxes extra, and the price is written on the program page.

What we see, and what we don't promise

Among people who finish the protocol, what we see most often is shedding that stops, then fine vellus hair appearing where there was none. A completely transformed head of hair is rarer.

Does it work for everyone? No. Some people respond little, and we have no way of predicting it. That's why we tell you at the assessment what stage you're at, because that stage weighs the most.

What makes a protocol fail

  • Stopping after two or three sessions, out of impatience, right before it shows
  • Spacing beyond six weeks, and losing the benefit of accumulation
  • Skipping maintenance, and watching the shedding come back within a year
  • Trying to speed it up by moving sessions closer, which adds nothing

Patience is hard when you're checking your hair in the mirror every morning, and we understand that. What works is doing all four sessions, keeping the spacing, and booking maintenance before you leave the clinic after the last session.

By profile

Under 35, with recent shedding. A lighter protocol, three sessions and annual maintenance.

Between 35 and 50, with moderate loss. The standard protocol, four sessions and maintenance every 6 to 12 months.

Over 50, with advanced loss. Four to five sessions, and maintenance twice a year in the first year.

These profiles are starting points. Yours is set at the assessment.

In short

Four sessions, then one every year or two. The commitment is short, its end is known in advance, and there's nothing to do between appointments.

That's little compared with a daily solution that never stops. You still need to be at the right stage, and that's the first thing we look at.
